Patient Transfer Center
MissionThe AUBMC transfer Center is a service designed to provide patients and physicians with a centralized, efficient and effective process of Inter facility transfers of patients to and from AUBMC.
Transfer Center Services
The transfer center staff coordinates all aspects related to patient transfer requests including the following:
- Arrange for physician to physician communication regarding the patient’s clinical condition and services needed prior to transfer
- Facilitate transmission of all documents required to complete the transfer
- Secure inpatient bed availability and reservation prior to transfer
- Coordinate transportation arrangements if needed
Operations
All Inter Facility transfers are arranged Monday through Friday from 8 am to 8 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 4pm.
After hours and overnight emergency transfers are arranged through the AUBMC Emergency department.
Transfer Center Process
The transfer center staff coordinates all aspects related to patient transfer requests including the following:
- When a physician or a hospital representative calls the Transfer Center, our staff will collect standardized patient related information. This will help ensure a fast and smooth transfer process
- Once a patient is cleared by the Transfer Center, an inpatient hospital bed will be secured and the referring physician and the transport agency will be notified to initiate the patient’s transport.
- Every attempt will be made by our staff to facilitate each transfer request.
